Edward A. (Ted) Carmichael is Managing Director, Asset Mix & Capital Market Research at the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS). Over the years, Ted has advised Canadian federal and provincial policy makers, appeared before numerous parliamentary committees and been a regular media commentator on the economy. He is responsible for communicating J.P. Morgan's global economic and market views to the firm's Canadian clients and for providing detailed insight on the Canadian economy and market strategy to JP Morgan Chase's clients around the world. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan in 1994, Mr. Carmichael was Senior Economist and Director at Burns Fry Limited. He also held positions as Vice President and Director of Research at the C.D. Howe Institute; Senior Economist at Shell Canada Limited; and Economist at the Conference Board of Canada. He received his undergraduate economics degree from Queen's University, his M.A. from Carleton University, and returned to Queen's for PhD studies. Ted volunteers as a member of the Investment Committee of the United Church Pension Fund and is a member of the Captain’s Committee at Scarboro Golf and Country Club.
