Toronto ON, C.D. Howe Institute, 67 Yonge Street, Suite 300

Roundtable Luncheon - CDIC at 50: Are we ready for the next crisis?

President and CEO Michèle Bourque will discuss the lessons that CDIC’s 50 years of experience has taught about bank failure and resolution, and how the corporation is positioned to deal with the next financial crisis.

Ms. Bourque was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) in 2010 following a career with CDIC that has spanned more than two decades.

Under Ms. Bourque’s leadership, CDIC has made critical strides toward becoming a global leader in deposit insurance and resolution, including the development of the resolution framework for Canada’s domestic systemically important banks.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Bourque served as the corporation’s Executive Vice-President, Insurance and Risk Assessment. She has been involved in all key areas within CDIC, including the assessment, monitoring and resolution of member institutions. Before joining CDIC, she worked at the Royal Bank of Canada and Bell Canada.

A native of Montréal, Ms. Bourque holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa as well as a Master of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Université de Montréal.
