Andy Byford, CEO, TTC

Andy Byford was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Toronto Transit Commission in March, 2012.  As such, he leads the largest transit agency in Canada, and the third largest in North America, carrying over 540 million riders on an annual basis.  Mr. Byford initially joined the TTC as Chief Operating Officer in November, 2011 and was responsible for the delivery of safe, punctual, reliable bus, streetcar, SRT, subway and Wheel-Trans services.  

From 2009 to 2011, as Chief Operating Officer of Rail Corporation, Sydney, Australia, Mr. Byford delivered service to a million customers a day on Australia’s largest transit network.  From 2003 to 2009, he held the positions of Operations Director and Operations and Safety Director with Southern Railway and South Eastern Trains Limited, UK. 

During his tenure with London Underground from 1989 to 2003, he held a variety of managerial positions including Group Station Manager, Kings Cross and General Manager – Customer Service for three of the busiest subway lines.

Mr. Byford is a graduate of the University of Leicester from which he was awarded a B.A. joint honours degree in French and German.  He also holds a Diploma in Transport from the University of London.

Mr. Byford is from Plymouth in the United Kingdom.  A member of the Institute of Railway Operators, he is married and lives in Toronto.

 

Bruce McCuaig, President and CEO, Metrolinx


In his role, Bruce is building a team committed to transforming transportation in the GTHA, by building a strong customer service emphasis throughout the organization, delivering quality transportation services on time and on budget, and working collaboratively with our partners – all key elements to delivering on the promise of Metrolinx’s Regional Transportation Plan.

Bruce began his career in public service in 1984, and has worked in areas involving land use planning and policy, municipal policy, and transportation planning, policy and operations. He spent 10 years with the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and 15 years with the Ministry of Transportation, where his final role as Deputy Minister made him responsible for leading the 4,000 public servants dedicated to ensuring a safe and efficient provincial transportation system.

Bruce is on the Board of Directors for the Transportation Association of Canada, the United Way of Peel Region and the Policy Board of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), and is a member of the Providence Healthcare Campaign Leadership Committee.

He holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson University, and a Master of Public Administration from Queen’s University.

 

Peter Wallace, City Manager, City of Toronto

Peter Wallace is currently the City Manager for the City of Toronto, with the overall responsibility for over 53,000 staff, an Operating budget of about $12 Billion and a 2015-24 Capital Plan of $32 billion.

Toronto is Canada's largest city and the 6th largest government in the country.

Peter’s career in the public service spans over more than 30 years. Peter became Secretary of the Cabinet, head of the Ontario Public Service and Clerk of the Executive Council on December 17, 2011. Before his appointment as Secretary of the Cabinet, Peter was Deputy Minister of Finance for three years. Peter also served as Deputy Minister of Energy. Earlier, he was Deputy Minister and Associate Secretary of the Cabinet with responsibility for Policy in Cabinet Office.

Peter began his public service career in 1981 after completing a BA (Honours) in Political Economy and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Toronto.
