The C.D. Howe Institute announces that Alfred Wirth is stepping down from the Institute’s Board of Directors and joining the Institute’s National Council. Alf Wirth is a long-standing supporter of the Institute, and will long be remembered for his contributions to the Board, including service on its Investment Committee, and for his generous gift of $ 1.05 million to establish an Endowment Fund for Special Studies in 2007.

“It has been a privilege to serve on the Board of Directors of the C.D. Howe Institute,” Wirth said, “and a pleasure to see the Institute extend its solid, empirical approach to more areas of economic policy that are vital to Canada’s future.”

“All of us at the Institute are in Alf’s debt,” said Bill Robson, CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute. “He has supported us with his donations and his ideas as a member of the Board, and we are delighted that he will continue to contribute as a member of the National Council.”
