Benjamin Dachis is Associate Director, Research at the C.D. Howe Institute. He started with the C.D. Howe Institute in 2006 as a Research Fellow and also has experience with a major U.S. think tank. He returned to the C.D. Howe Institute as a Policy Analyst in January of 2008, and became a Senior Policy Analyst in 2011 and Associate Director, Research in 2016.
He has an Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Science in Regional Science from the London School of Economics (LSE). He received the George and Hilda Ormsby Prize for the top MSc dissertation in the Department of Geography and Environment at the LSE. He worked at the Centre for Economic Performance, an interdisciplinary research centre at the LSE. He is also the Co-Chair of the Toronto Chapter of the Canadian Friends of the LSE.
He was a member of the 2012 and 2013 Insight Grants Economics Committee for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
He has written on municipal finance, infrastructure, tax, energy, environmental and labour policy.
