Summary
Miwako Nitani is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on entrepreneurial finance, including venture capital, small business lending and crowdfunding. Through her research she seeks to facilitate smooth capital flows to young small enterprises, especially those with growth potential. Her work also encompasses the impacts of entrepreneurs’ financial literacy on their financing choices. Research projects are often in collaboration with public sector agencies, including Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, Export Development Canada and the Business Development Bank of Canada. These collaborations have often formed the basis for policy recommendations as well as publication in well-regarded academic journals.
