August 1, 2018 - William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the re-appointment Dan Ciuriak as a Fellow-in-Residence.

“Dan’s knowledge, public-policy experience, and skill in modeling the economic impacts of international trade are major assets to the Institute,” said Robson. “He has made signal contributions to our work program, and we look forward to further contributions to Canadian trade policy and economic growth from Dan.”

Dan Ciuriak is the Director and Principal of Ciuriak Consulting Inc. He  has wide-ranging experience in the analysis and formulation of public policy, development of legislation, economic analysis in support of litigation (both private and state-to-state), and training and technical assistance in applied trade analysis and modeling. He has published widely as author and editor, within government and in a personal capacity, commented frequently in the media; and made numerous presentations at various academic, business and official venues, including the World Trade Organization, the World Bank, APEC and the OECD.

Previously, he was Deputy Chief Economist at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) with responsibility for economic analysis in support of trade negotiations and trade litigation.

Prior to joining Canada’s Public Service, he studied at McMaster University in Hamilton (Masters in Economics in 1977).
