November 14, 2016 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the appointment of Paul Beaudry, Professor at the University of British Columbia, as a Senior Fellow.

“Paul has already contributed a great deal to the Institute as a member of its Monetary Policy Council and Business Cycle Council,” remarked Robson. “As a Senior Fellow, he will continue to enrich our research program in macroeconomics, monetary policy, and economic growth.”

Paul Beaudry is a Professor at the University of British Columbia. He has held faculty positions at Oxford University, Boston University and the Université de Montréal. Professor Beaudry has published widely in the areas of macroeconomics, monetary policy, labour economics, technical change, and economic growth.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a Research Associate at the U.S. National Bureau of Economic Research. He held the Canada Research Chair in Macroeconomics from 2001-2015 and was a Fellow of the Bank of Canada from 2005-2015.

Most recently, Professor Beaudry has published in the area of income distribution and business cycle fluctuations, and is currently working on research in the area of job creation, debt-fueled expansion and financial crisis.

Professor Beaudry received a BA from Laval University (1983), an MA in Economics from the University of British Columbia (1984), and a PhD in Economics from Princeton University (1989). He was born in Montreal.
