October 24, 2016 – William Robson, President and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, announces the re-appointment of Paul Jenkins, former Senior Deputy Governor and Chief Operating Officer, Bank of Canada; Adjunct Professor, Carleton University, as a Senior Fellow.

“Paul’s knowledge and policy experience are hugely helpful to the Institute,” remarked Robson. “We value the insights he contributes to our research strategy, and are proud to count him among our authors.”

His most recent Institute report, co-authored with David Longworth, is entitled “Securing Monetary and Financial Stability: Why Canada Needs a Macroprudential Policy Framework.”

Paul received his M.Sc. in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science in England and his B.A. in economics from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. From 2003 to 2010, Paul served as Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada. He was the Bank’s chief operating officer and a member of its board of directors. His duties included overseeing strategic planning, the conduct of monetary policy as a member of the Bank’s governing council and participating in fulfilling the Bank’s responsibilities for promoting financial stability.

In addition to his position at the C.D. Howe Institute, Jenkins is a member of the boards of governors of the University of Western Ontario and the Institute For New Economic Thinking, and a senior distinguished fellow in the Faculty of Public Affairs, Carleton University.
